Maude Adams
Maud Adams was born in Luleå, a town of 80,000 inhabitants on the
northeast coast of Sweden. She started her professional career as a
fashion cover girl in the late 1960’s in Europe and was soon
discovered by the world famous Ford Model Agency and brought to New
York City. A supermodel
during the 1970’s, she was frequently seen in fashion layouts and
magazine covers, such as Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. She also made
numerous television commercials featuring major brands. Her acting
career began with a feature film for CBS’s Cinemascope, starring
opposite Beau Bridges in “The Christian Licorice Store” and this was
followed by two Canadian features: “Mahoney's Estate” and “The Girl
In Blue”.
In 1974, she landed a coveted role as a “Bondgirl” in the
James Bond thriller “The Man With The Golden Gun”, playing opposite
Roger Moore. The following year, director Norman Jewison placed her
opposite James Caan in his futuristic drama ”Rollerball”.
Other feature leads include “Tattoo” opposite Bruce Dern and movies
for television, such as “Nairobi Affair” starring Charlton Heston
and “The Hostage Tower” with Peter Fonda. She often appeared on
television such as in the PBS drama “Playing for Time“, starring
Vanessa Redgrave and as a regular performer in NBC’s city drama
“Chicago Story”.
In 1984, she was once again coupled with Roger Moore, playing
the title role of “Octopussy”
becoming the only actress to twice star in a James Bond movie, but
returned thereafter to television as a series regular in ”Emerald
Point N.A.S” for CBS.
Ms. Adams has been featured in more than two dozen American
and European features films such as “A Man of Passion” opposite
Anthony Quinn, “The Women's Club“, “Jane and the Lost City”, “Deadly
Intent“ and “Ringer”. Her many television roles include guest parts
in productions such as “The New Mission Impossible”, “Perry Mason
Murder Mystery Theater”, “Walker -Texas Ranger” and “That 70’s
Show”.
Ms. Adams also has a strong presence in her native Sweden,
where she has hosted a live variety show,
“Cafe Luleå” on national public television and played a
recurring role in the drama series “Radioskugga” and worked on a
popular daytime drama, “Vita Lögner”.
She made her stage debut on Stockholm’s Intiman Theater in
the hit comedy “The Spanish Fly”.
Recently her fashion and commercial origin has played an
important role. Projects have included “Maud Adams Wardrobe”, a
Swedish clothing line and she is often sought out for personal
apperances and speaking
engagements in various situations.
Ms. Adams lives in Los Angeles and is married to a Los Angels
Superior Court judge. She speaks several languages and has many
cultural interests. She is athletic, loves her yoga practice and
hiking in the nearby Santa Monica Mountains.
