Samantha Ferris was born November 2nd, 1968 in Vancouver, B.C. to Roy and Jane Ferris, a rather gregarious couple of brits who migrated to Canada in the early 60s.  From the day she was born, it was obvious that Samantha was destined to do something with her  vocal chords….whether that  was to be good or bad wasn’t determined yet.

Upon graduating from high school Samantha moved to Whistler, B.C. with the dream of becoming the next world champion freestyle skier, but soon realized that this was just not enough in the spotlight for her.   Sam soon moved into the media industry and there she stayed for many years, working on local tv and radio stations in Vancouver.  Alas, this still didn’t fill the need for vocal exuberance, and through the mid 90’s Sam bounced around many careers; Music business, sales, more radio, tv hosting positions, but when she was 28 a light went on in her head.  Her father had just died, she hated her current job and she had just broken up with her boyfriend when she realized; life was too short do to what you don’t want to do so go after your dream…or at least die trying.

At 28, Samantha walked into Pacific Artists Management in Vancouver asking to be represented.  She had no experience, no resume, and no real training but a lot of tenacity and confidence.  Using her media background, Samantha spent her first year as an actor doing small reporter parts on local tv shows and movies shot in Vancouver.  It was obvious at that by the age of 30, she had found her calling and has been a fulltime working actor ever since.

With a voice like gravel and an unshakable confidence, Samantha has put together an impressive acting resume over the last 10 years.  She has landed lead roles in highly acclaimed tv shows like Beggars and Choosers, The 4400, and the Showtime feature The Ranch.  She has also been a popular recurring guest star on Supernatural Stargate  The Chris Isaak Show and the short lived but widely revered series The Evidence.   Other work includes series work on Smallville, the L Word, Battlestar Gallactica, Reunion, and numerous TV and big screen features, including the soon to be released 2 part mini series Impact with David James Elliot, James Cromwell and Natasha Henstridge.

Samantha lives in her hometown of Vancouver, B.C. with her cat Kramer where she continues to act and work in radio.  Sam hates spiders, her favourite colour is purple, and if she could be stuck on a desert island for the rest of her life, she would choose to take actor Sam Rockwell with her.  And maybe a Dave Mathews CD.
